When it comes to Reading Workshop, Booksource has you covered! From mini-lessons to independent and shared reading, we offer a plethora of hand-picked book collections that are designed for the modern classroom. Below we chart out some of the important components of Reading Workshop and list our new supporting collections.

Collections to Use for Mini-Lessons
Mini-lessons provide a great opportunity for highlighting specific comprehension strategies, such as summarizing, connecting, questioning, inferring, visualizing/imaging and predicting. With Booksource’s Comprehension Strategies Collections, it’s easy to know which books work best for each particular strategy at your grade level. New for 2014, we’ve added collections for two additional strategies: determining importance and synthesizing! In addition to our comprehension strategies collections, we also offer one of the largest selections of A-Z leveled titles to support guided reading. See below for links to our Comprehension Strategies Collections and Leveled Classroom Libraries.

Collections to Use for Independent Reading/Shared Reading
When it comes to independent and shared reading, it’s important to offer a wide variety of books so that all students are engaged. Booksource has created collections designed to support instruction based on the Common Core State Standards. These collections are balanced between fiction and nonfiction with genre and thematic extension collections available to help guarantee that there is something for everyone. Click on the links below to see Common Core Collections at various grade levels.

In addition to our Common Core Collections, each year we refresh our catalogs looking for opportunities to include new collections that will hook students and get them excited about reading. The following table highlights some of our new collections for 2014. To see all of our featured collections, request a catalog.
